Sandra has worked with a child labeled Mentally
Retarded since the child was 5 years old. The
child wouldn't let anyone touch him; only his
mother, and that was limited. He kept everyone
at arm's length. Just before using The Listening
Program (TLP) with this child, Sandra had begun
seeing him two times per week. At seven plus years,
they began working on swallowing. Being fed through
a gastronomy tube all his life, no one had ever
shown him what to do with his oral secretions.
He drooled a lot. Sandra got close enough to this
child to use a therapeutic device in the child's
mouth during her visits.
Sandra was then trained as an Authorized Provider
of The Listening Program by Advanced Brain Technologies.
She battled with the child's insurance to begin
seeing him five days a week for eight weeks versus
the two visits/week for six months. She needed
this time with the child so that he could follow
the 5 days on, 2 days off listening schedule.
Her request was granted and she began TLP.
These are a few of the child's changes from The
Listening Program:
| • |
Attention span improved. He was able for
the first time to sit through a whole wooden
puzzle |
| • |
He started allowing more family to touch
him |
| • |
He started smiling |
| • |
He began to notice himself in the mirror,
looking at his body parts |
| • |
His crying was reduced |
| • |
He became more interactive and he loved
the listening! |
