Date of Birth: December 30, 1995
Chronological Age: 8 1/2
Jacob has been coming to reading therapy for about
5 weeks. He comes twice a week for an hour each
session. He could not read when he first came. He
has multiple sensory integration issues, is sensitive
to loud sounds, and cannot track with his eyes.
He recently visited an optometrist who said that
Jacob has the worst case of astigmatism that he
has ever seen in a child. When he comes to reading
therapy, Jacob argues, tries to manipulate and attempts
to be in control. He is very intelligent and has
excellent structural visualization skills. He has
an awesome vocabulary, yet his speech is not always
clear. From time to time, Jacob hits his head with
his fists and says that he's stupid. A couple of
different times, he clawed his face. In his fifth
week of therapy, Jacob became frustrated during
the reading session. He called himself stupid and
hit himself with his fists several times. He clawed
his face really hard several times, starting at
his forehead all the way down to his neck, leaving
red marks. His grandma was called in to help, but
he would not calm down enough to continue therapy.
Jacob started TLP Full Spectrum Prelude 1,that same
day, listening to two 15 minute modules. After one
week on FS Prelude 1 he came to reading therapy,
and he was awesome. He never fought back, was settled
down, and did not argue. He was polite (I had never
seen that before) and accomplished four times as
much as ever before. Jacob now continues to improve
with TLP Full Spectrum Prelude 2.
